I think what’s interesting in retrospect is that we have a typical male character who is attracted to strong women but fantasizes about making them dependent and submissive, but knows that his desires are problematic…. Like the striving male feminist who ends up waffling between objectification and respect without being able to hold the two at the same time (at least initially), it’s like Joss put himself in the fucking show.
