I love to dunk on Season 1 because it's a little awkward, a little cringe and just hasn't hit the stride it hits in later seasons but every time I watch this first episode I'm just big dumb smiling the whole time. Interested to see how it is for first time watchers, but as a seasoned fan there's something so sweet about meeting everyone for the first time. Joss did such a great job setting the tone of what the show was going to be from the first scene with Darla, the one liners are classic, Xander is annoying, Willow is perfect, Cordelia is perfectly bitchy. Giles is charmingly exasperated and the same age I am now which is wild.
Favorite line I've never caught before: "what kind of name is Buffy?!" "Hey Aphrodesia!" "Oh Hey!"
Favorite lines that get me every time:
Cordelia: "I don't mean to interrupt your downward mobility..."
Willow "I think boys are more interested in girls who can talk"
Buffy: "You really haven't been dating lately"
Giles: "It may be that you can wrest some information from that dread machine... that was a bit, uhm, British wasn't it?... I want you to go on the 'net"
Cordelia: "So how do we save it?"
Willow: "Deliver"
Unanswered questions: Why does Buffy look like she's going to a business meeting at a business company when she goes to the Bronze?
